Your team can work together, but can they really work together? If your team needs some help when it comes to joining forces, there’s nothing better than a shared goal, such as mastering the steel pans to make that happen! Steel pans are a different way to challenge and engage people whilst offering them transferable skills they can take back to the office.
The focus of a steel pan team-building workshop is encouraging your team to recognise and support individuality within its structure, whilst maintaining group awareness. Coming together to perform a piece of music regardless of ability can help to build confidence and break down preconceived notions about your colleagues’ characteristics.
We provide a safe learning space that allows for positive and constructive feedback, therefore creating an environment that fosters confidence and allows individuals to explore their creative side. You and your team could discover and develop skills you didn’t even know you had – all whilst working towards a common goal!
In all of our sessions, each group will get the chance to play at least one piece of music as a team. This shared sense of accomplishment is essential to maintaining morale and increasing motivation going forward. After all, success breeds success. When it comes to steel pans, no one is an island and real accomplishments can only come about as a result of a truly collaborative process.
Our programme means that the essentials of good teamwork are covered by our team in an enjoyable and entertaining way. From a two-hour session to a one-day event, there is a steel pan workshop to fit your schedule and needs. We will provide you with an experienced tutor who will introduce you to the steel pans. This will include a brief history of the instrument and how the different pan parts fit together. All participants will learn to play at least one piece of steel pan music, which will be performed with your team band towards the end of the session.
We provide opportunities for groups of 5-12 individuals. This cap on numbers is due to the amount of steel pans we are able to transport, however, more people can be involved if you’re happy for them to share equipment. Every team member will receive a certificate of participation when the session has been completed.
If your team could do with a little break from the hustle and bustle of the office, we would be more than happy to host one of our wellbeing sessions.
It’s incredibly important to maintain morale and keep spirits up, especially as things can sometimes dip or events can affect your team’s performance. However, coming together to focus on group experience can help to reset your team’s equilibrium.
There are several benefits to playing steel pans as a means of boosting overall wellbeing. As well as steel pans being a relaxing instrument to learn, the act of playing them can increase concentration, thus helping your team to achieve their goals with ease.
Being present and understanding the needs of your team is a surefire way to optimise your business in order to see it thrive. Happy, calm and motivated employees are, after all, the heart of every business. There are just a few things you need to do in order to make that your reality.
There are very few things you need to do on the day but we do have a few requirements. You will need to provide a location that is big enough to accommodate your group and a set of steel pans. Please be mindful that our sessions can get quite loud and we don’t want to disturb others who might still be working. If your preferred location is relatively out of the way, that would be ideal.
If you need us to travel a bit further afield, please let us know so accommodation can be organised. This can be done at an extra cost.
Steel Pan Academy Corporate Team Building rates are based on an average of £1,000-£1,500 a day for up to 20 participants. Rates are negotiable for different numbers and timings.

A really good crack!
